While Thanksgiving and Christmas are on our minds now, we can go ahead and start thinking of celebrating St. Patrick’s Day! In fact, why not add this to your wish list for Santa?
In February, Dropkick Murphys will launch their 2024 St. Patrick’s Day Tour in San Jose, California with special guest Pennywise.
The bands will perform on February 24th at the Toyota Arena in Ontario, then head to Boston for four shows for the Murphys’ annual extravaganza during St Patrick’s Day Week. To amplify the St. Patrick’s spirit, during all but the Boston shows, Dublin band The Scratch will open.
When the bands reach Boston, the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day Week begins. Starting on March 14th, the week will kick off at Citizens House of Blues Boston, and for the following three nights, the celebration will be at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway.
Additionally, there will be a daytime VIP Mini-Concert at the MGM Music Hall on March 16th. Kids under 10 get in free with a paid ticketed parent or guardian, and the proceeds go to the band’s non-profit, the Claddagh Fund, which supports community-based non-profit organizations.
Dropkick Murphys – Ken Casey (lead vocals), Tim Brennan (guitars, tin whistle, accordion, piano, vocals), Jeff DaRosa (guitars, banjo, mandolin, vocals), Matt Kelly (drums, percussion, vocals), James Lynch (guitars, vocals), and Kevin Rheault (bass) – have recently released two critically-acclaimed albums; “Randy Bradbury Machine Still Kills Fascists” (2022) and “Okemah Rising” (2023). They are legendary for their annual St. Patrick’s Day performances, so we highly encourage you to find a way to attend!
Pennywise was born in a Los Angeles neighborhood where punk rock dominated the streets. Gaining international attention in 1988, the band’s high-energy sound combines classic punk, surf punk, and hardcore punk.
Their music became commonplace, not only on the local airwaves, but also on the worldwide festival circuit. With Jim Lindberg (vocals), Fletcher Dragge (guitars), Byron McMackin (drummer), and Randy Bradbury (bassist), Pennywise has won fans over with iconic songs “Fuck Authority,” “Alien,” “Victim of Reality,” and “Bro Hymn.”
Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m., but you may be able to snag presale tickets now on their site.
