JIMMY EAT WORLD : MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA

Jimmy Eat World & Manchester Orchestra

Amplified Echoes Tour

June 14, 2023 by Traci Turner
There has been no shortage of incredible shows at The Greek this year, so let’s toss another one on your calendar. July 19th will see Jimmy Eat World, Manchester Orchestra, and Middle Kids gracing the historic venue for their Amplified Echoes tour.
Jimmy Eat World ruled the early aughts with their “Bleed American” album – which remains on my favorites list – thanks to the title track, “A Praise Chorus,” “The Middle,” and “Sweetness.” I challenge you to listen to those songs and NOT be in a fantastic mood.

Jim Adkins (vocals/guitar), Tom Linton (guitar), Rick Burch (bass), and Zach Lind (drums) released “Surviving” in 2019, but could not tour in support due to the pandemic. The Arizona band returned to live shows at Lollapalooza in 2021 and have begun writing new music again, releasing the singles “Something Loud” and “Place Your Debts” last year.
Hailing from Atlanta, Manchester Orchestra has also done the Lollapalooza thing, along with Bonnaroo, Coachella, and the standards. Andy Hull (vocals/guitar), Robert McDowell (guitar/keyboards), Andy Prince (bass), and Tim Very (drums) have found success thanks to songs like “Deer,” “Cope,” “Shake It Out,” “The Maze,” “Telepath,” and “Bed Head.”

In 2021, Manchester Orchestra released “The Million Masks of God” album, which led to March’s “The Valley of Vision.” The six-song album includes tracks recorded during the “The Million Masks of God” recording sessions and is partnered with a VR film.
Opening for these two heavy hitters is the Sydney-based trio, Middle Kids. With their new single, “Bootleg Firecracker,” the band is ready to conquer the US.

They have already appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” thanks to the strength of their album, “Today We’re the Greatest.” Hannah Joy (vocals/guitar), Tim Fitz (bass), and Harry Day (drums) have been consistently dropping new music since forming in 2016, so we look forward to seeing them at The Greek with Jimmy Eat World and Manchester Orchestra!
If you’re looking for a great show to check out this summer, this may be the ticket for you.
