There is much to be said about familiarity. It can bring out a host of emotions from all of us, some good and some not so good. From time-to-time, we come across a person who can bring out the best in us through their voice and personality, that person is Marci Wiser.
Here’s the thing… media impacts us all no matter where we live on the planet. Truth is, radio stations have a means to help us in so many ways at any time. Radio can guide us out of the unknown and entertain us, not necessarily in that order. Luckily for us, we have a station in Southern California like 95.5FM, KLOS that brings us great music from our past alongside new music mixed with the much needed facts of life.
This is where Wiser really shines. She is part of that machine, the hands so-to-speak that supports those iconic bands on the mic for KLOS. She delivers us everything we need with a soothing voice and a matter of fact persona that is sincere. That is a presence that money just can’t buy, and KLOS listeners can attest to this. Her specialty shows is what makes her stand out.
All this being said, earlier today, Meruelo Media announce that 95.5 KLOS/Los Angeles On-Air Talent Marci Wiser has been named the 2021 Gracie Award Winner for Major Market, Music Personality.
This is a very big deal. The award is presented by the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation. They recognize exemplary programming created by women, for women and about women in all facets of media and entertainment.
In a year that has been so unpredictable and has tested our limits, Wiser produced several segments on her radio show that made her stand out in a field of great broadcasters. Marci’s award-winning year of content creation featured a compelling series of free-form interviews with superstar female artists that centered on coping with the pandemic, what it’s like being a woman in a Rock genre that has historically been dominated by men, and how TikTok has reignited the Rock torch among teenagers. Marci also curated a new commercial-free “workout” show each weekday at noon for listeners working from home, called Marci’s Bootcamp, which still airs each weekday on KLOS.
Meruelo Media President / CEO Otto Padron said “This Gracie Award validates the incredible honor that it is to work with Marci Wiser… 2020 was a year unlike any other, yet Marci stood dauntlessly live from our studios flawlessly connecting, entertaining and informing Los Angeles every-day with her unique style that made us better, braver and ‘Wiser’ during the scariest days of the pandemic.”
About the award, Wiser said, “I am truly honored to be recognized by the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation. I’m just doing my part to represent the ladies of rock, and I’m grateful for this honor; it means a lot.”
Wiser continued, “I will always proudly wave the female flag in Rock and support icons like Heart, Joan Jett and Pat Benatar, The Runaways; as well contemporary heroes like Taylor Momsen, Lzzy Hale and Amy Lee; and let’s not forget today’s emerging teenagers that will be gracing the big stages soon, like LuLu from Violet Saturn, Jasmine Star, The Warning and so many more. I am happy and proud to give female rockers a much deserved and needed outlet.”
You can catch Marci Wiser Weekdays at KLOS from 10am to 3pm.
