PET SHOP BOYS

Are Lost

April 19, 2023 by Traci Turner
The Pet Shop Boys have dropped their first new music in three years, and have promised more is to come.
Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe released a four-track EP titled “Lost,” which will ship with their annual limited edition book, “Annually.” The EP is also available for purchase on digital platforms – which is awesome since “Annually” has sold out.

Per Tennant, “Lost” features never-before-heard songs “The Lost Room,” “I Will Fall,” “Skeletons in the Closet,” and “Kaputnik.” The songs were recorded in 2015 during sessions for the “Super” album, but the gentlemen felt they did not fit with the album. The digital EP also includes a new mix of “Living in the Past.”

The band decided to release the songs as an EP because “they all sit together quite well” and “some of them are sort of relevant to the world at the moment.”
As for “Annually,” the 64-page book will include: a diary and behind-the-scenes photos from the first leg of the Dreamworld tour; discussion of the Unity Tour of North America with exclusive photographs; news from the past year and information about future plans; photographs, letters answered, and more.

PSB have also announced the upcoming release of “SMASH – The Singles 1985-2020” – a complete collection of their singles in chronological order. “SMASH” will be released on June 16th in a variety of formats: “3CD box set, 6LP vinyl box set and digitally, as well as two special limited edition formats available exclusively via the Pet Shop Boys’ store – 6LP white vinyl box set and 3-cassette box set. A 3CD/2Blu-ray edition will also be released which includes the complete video collection of the singles plus extras.

The 3CD/2Blu-Ray and vinyl formats also include an illustrated booklet written by Chris Heath in which all songs are discussed.”

As if THAT wasn’t enough, Tennant and Lowe are also in the studio working on their next album, their first since 2020’s “Hotspot.” The album will be produced by James Ford who just produced Depeche Mode’s “Memento Mori.”
That’s a whole lotta Pet Shop Boys in 2023 and I’m here for it all!
