There is never enough Pixies, but this upcoming box set comes close!
Way back in 2004, Pixies ended their 11-year hiatus with a series of shows at Brixton Academy. All four nights sold out and the band played almost every song off “Doolittle” and “Surfer Rosa,” plus various covers and obscure tracks in their catalogue.
“When I hear The Pixies for the first time, I connected with that band so heavily I should have been in that band – or at least in a Pixies cover band.”

The Brixton shows were memorable to the band of course. “It was an amazing reception, I guess they had missed us over all those years,” said Joey Santiago. “I particularly remember getting word that the balcony was swaying, and seeing that the crowd didn’t want to leave long after we had finished the show.”
For the first time, these four shows are being released as a box set titled “Live in Brixton.” Newly mastered and coming to you on vinyl or CD, “Live in Brixton” consists of eight discs!
The vinyl box will offer “each show split between two translucent coloured LPs: June 2nd is red, June 3rd is orange, June 5th is green, and June 6th is blue. It is housed within a beautifully crafted deluxe slipcase box featuring silver foil detail that depicts the famous Brixton Academy venue.” Only 2,000 will be made, which will sell out quickly.
A second vinyl box set will be available at select independent retailers, and each album will have a splattered paint appearance on clear vinyl. This will also be a limited edition with only 1,500 in the US.
If CDs are more your thing, the CD box set uses the same colors as the vinyl with each show spread over two discs. It will also include a deluxe case bound book with artwork similar to the vinyl versions.
The box sets will include a 24-page booklet of photographs and new artwork, memories and paraphernalia from the shows, and a 27” x 19” poster.
This amazing set will be released on January 28th, so prepare to receive a Pixies overload.
