With our feet in the air and our heads on the ground, there’s a wait going on far too long and we’ve all gone to heaven with the latest tour announcement. One of our favorite bands of all time is back, Pixies are back!
This amazing tour is hitting the road in 2021. Pixies will play for all their fans, and make one epic stop. All while playing with another legendary band, Nine Inch Nails.
Their 11-date September jaunt kicks off in New York with stops in the Mid-East, South, and East Coast. While there are no West Coast dates at this time, this certainly qualifies for a road trip.
The one big stop will be in Chicago where they play Riot Fest! As predicted, this show sold out in no time. With all the bands scheduled to play, it is destined to be a storied event.
Pixies feature Charles Thompson (aka Black Francis – vocals and guitar), Joey Santiago (lead guitar), Paz Lenchantin (bass and vocals), and David Lovering.
Collectively this band can still bring it! With a signature sound that can electrify, this band is comfortable in their skin, and gets along very well. That dynamic is evident on stage and translates to their performances.
The tour hits most of the US with headline shows and festivals, plus multiple concerts with Nine Inch Nails. As usual, they will not stick to a firm set list, but will play songs from their entire catalogue. Fans can expect to hear favorites like “Monkey Gone To Heaven,” “Debaser,” “Gouge Away,” “Dig For Fire,” “Where is My Mind,” “Here Comes Your Man,” “Wave of Mutilation,” “Gigantic,” “Hey” and their latest, “Hear Me Out.”
“Over the past year, it’s been wonderful to spend so much time with our families,” said Santiago. “I’ve been doing a lot of cycling and playing music, Paz has been working on art projects, music, film, and surfing, Charles has been raising chickens and doing a lot of painting, and Dave has been playing drums, doing magic, and investing time in metal detecting and mineral collecting. But we’re ready to get back to playing live shows, and are looking forward to seeing you all.”
Tickets go on sale this Friday (June 11) at 7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET.
