The mega hard rock event known as Power Trip Festival announced their 2023 lineup in March, with fans going ballistic for headliners AC/DC, Ozzy Osbourne, Tool, Iron Maiden, Metallica, and Guns N’ Roses.
Unfortunately, Osbourne continues to have health issues and has pulled out of the festival. The legendary rocker announced: “As painful as this is, I’ve had to make the decision to bow out of performing on Power Trip in October. My original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024 & when the offer to do this show came in, I optimistically moved forward. Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed.”
While many fans were devastated by this blow, here’s hoping Osbourne’s replacement will suffice: the equally legendary… Judas Priest. Calling them “personal friends of mine,” Osbourne promised “you will not be disappointed.”
As for Rob Halford and crew, they said: “Judas Priest are primed and proud to fly the flag for Heavy Metal at this prestigious festival. We are ready to raise double horns way up high together keeping the metal faith at this ‘bostin’ one of a kind Power Trip world event!”
The first Power Trip was held in 2016 and featured Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Roger Waters, and The WHO.
This year’s festival will be held October 6th through the 8th at the Coachella grounds, also known as the Empire Polo Field in Indio. Tickets are still available for this Goldenvoice event.
