RACHAEL-O-RAMA # 29

Encore with Pulley

September 16, 2021 by Rachael Contreras
SoCal punk band Pulley has been rocking out since the dawn of 1994. Best known for their harder melodic punk that you can sing while moshing to, they bring a heartfelt and realistic view to their songs. With fan favorites like, “Insects Destroy,” “Working Class Whore,” “Hooray for Me,” and “Cashed In,” you can see why Pulley has been around so long and why they have a loyal fan base!
We spoke with former Major League pitcher and Pulley front-man, Scott Radinsky, who tells us, “The guys were out of work due to COVID, so we’d meet at our rehearsal studio in the San Fernando Valley. Since all of our shows got postponed the beginning of summer 2020, we just started meeting and writing. The songs just started coming, we basically just started writing the whole record.”
Radinsky goes on, “Then we had this idea that we were going to go through each of our past records and do a handful of acoustic songs. We ended up with two EPs and a recording of a live stream we did last year and SBAM Records ended up wanting to put it out. The acoustic album is called, ‘Different Strings.’ Now we have been working on new stuff that SBAM is going to put out next year as well.”
You read that right, folks! Just this past year, Pulley put out a new acoustic album, and an album of band member and fan favorites called, “Encore.” “Encore” consists of seven beloved tracks from previous records. They will also have a new album out for us next year! Yes, it’s right around the corner and we couldn’t be happier!

Drummer Chris Dalley (pulling double drumming duty as he is also the drummer for Authority Zero) told us, “Putting out music right now is a small way of having people kind of escape what’s going on in the world at the moment. Though it’s stuff the fans have heard before, it’s a different take on the songs. New music or just music in general for me has been a great way to kind of take my mind off of all the negativity that has happened these past two years.” We couldn’t agree more!
Not only do they have a song on at least 14 compilation albums, but Pulley themselves have seven albums – soon to be eight! That’s one hard-working band! Pulley is also slated to play day one of the incomparable Punk in the Park festival this November at Oak Canyon Park with Pennywise, The Vandals, Lagwagon, Fear, T.S.O.L., Jughead’s Revenge, The Last Gang, Guttermouth, The Bombpops, Chaser, and more (and that’s just the Saturday line up)!
PULLEY 2021
Pulley will be playing at The Garden Amp in Garden Grove this Friday, September 17th with OC punk natives Chaser, the Detours and more! This will be Pulley’s first time playing The Garden Amp and we are so stoked to see them here in the heart of Orange County! If you haven’t been to The Garden Amp, it’s outdoor stadium-like seating and you have a perfect view of the stage from any seat. It’s all ages, so feel free to take the kids, and because of the seating, the crowd is safe from mosh pits (but stairs are involved so plan accordingly). They also offer multiple full bars throughout the venue.
These are radical bands at an awesome venue on a warm summer Friday night in the OC. What more could you ask for?
