Many years ago, in what seems like a lifetime ago, a good friend once told me “to move forward in life, we need to always remember our past, pay homage to it, and let it be part of the process of who we become.” That’s good life advice, and ironically, it’s also a great formula in putting together amazing music festivals. With that in mind, the SoCal HoeDown is back and with a vengeance!
This year’s edition features SoCal and alt rock and metal favorites, Suicidal Tendencies, Horrorpops, Face To Face, TSOL, Fishbone and many other local and international favorites .
Best known for their epic hit, “Institutionalized” (“All I wanted was a Pepsi, just one Pepsi!”), Suicidal is a throwback to yesterday, while capturing the energy and engagement that all bands aspire to.
Also on the HoeDown bill are the psychobilly and punk sounds of Denmark’s own, HorrorPops! Not to be outdone, from SoCal, Victorville’s #1 sons… we’ll be moshin’ to the sights and sounds of Trever Keith and Face to Face!
Let’s not forget local favorites Face To Face. Coming off a few engagements in South America and Beachlife Fest, lead singer Trever Keith has new music he’s ready to deliver for all the face To Face fans.

Other great bands on the lineup include TSOL, The Supersuckers, Nashville Pussy, CH3, Throwrag, Street Walkin’ Cheetahs, and many other local and not-so-local bands that will burn up San Pedro Berth 46… metaphorically speaking of course!
Because Southern California has a distinct place in music history, and specifically in the ska genre, we’ll be skankin’ to not one, but two bands from the genres royal line.
The definite MUST SEE icons are Fishbone and The Untouchables!
For context on where we’ve been, or re-phrase… where has the Hoedown taken us? Previous year’s events were held in the streets of Santa Ana before moving to the Port of Los Angeles featuring larger than life band’s an artists such as Shooter Jennings, Nekromantix, Wanda Jackson, Rocket From The Crypt, Jello Biafra, Deke Dickerson, Lee Rocker, Slim Jim Phantom, Cadillac Tramps, and mose recently the Dead Kennedys and The Living End.
The HOEDOWN is happening this Saturday, September 18th, it’s an all-ages show and along with three stages, there will be tons of great food vendors of all makes that will entertain your taste buds, there’s craft beer, full bar, lowbrow art exhibit and lots of retail vendors for shopping.

There’s still a lot going on in 2021, music will guide us. Festivals like the SOCAL HOEDOWN will help us remember the fantastic times we’ve had at previous HoeDowns, and get psyched for today and new memories to come with a little help from our friends.
