In an announcement that made this ‘80s girl squeal out loud, The Psychedelic Furs and Squeeze shared plans to tour American this fall!
Kicking off in September at New York City’s legendary Radio City Music Hall, the tour will stop at several iconic venues across the country including The Stone Pony, Grand Ole Opry, The Fillmore, and our very own Greek Theatre, before wrapping up in Las Vegas in October.
The Psychedelic Furs earned their way into our Gen X hearts with “Pretty in Pink,” “Love My Way,” “Heaven,” “The Ghost in You,” and “Heartbreak Beat.” Younger generations have fallen for them as well as their music has been featured on Netflix’s “Stranger Things” and the Oscar-nominated film “Call Me by Your Name.”
The Furs – Richard Butler (vocals), Tim Butler (bass), Mars Williams (sax), Amanda Kramer (keyboards), Rich Good (guitar), and Zachary Alford (drums) – released “Made of Rain” in 2020, their first full-length album since 1991’s “World Outside.” Since the pandemic prevented touring, Richard Butler was able to use that time to write songs with Depeche Mode’s Martin Gore, leading to four tracks on the album “Memento Mori.”
Squeeze became a staple on ‘80s playlists thanks to “Cool for Cats,” “Pulling Mussels From a Shell,” “Black Coffee in Bed,” and “Tempted.” Despite disbanding in 1999, they reunited in 2007 and recently released the EP “Food for Thought.” Founding members Glenn Tilbrook (guitar, keyboards, vocals) and Chris Difford (guitar, vocals) remain.
The Psychedelic Furs + Squeeze tour will hit San Diego October 9th at The Sound and Los Angeles October 13th at The Greek Theatre.
Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. local time, but a presale begins Wednesday at 10 a.m. local time with the code HEAVEN.
