It’s time to grab your boogie shoes and head to your local movie theater for a flashback journey to the ’70s; a time when disco was king and ABBA was the biggest name in the music industry.
Now, they are back for your sonic and visual pleasure with a throwback, “ABBA; The Movie!”
The Swedish pop sensation from the ’70s ABBA were the end-all be-all of the music world with mega-hits “Dancing Queen,” “Waterloo,” “Lay All Your Love On Me,” “Gimme Gimme Gimme,” “Fernando,” and “Take A Chance On Me.”
ABBA’s core remains in place with Björn, Benny, Agnetha and Frida. Over the decades, their fans have remained loyal and the quartet continues to entertain them with their soul-piercing music.
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and ABBA’s music has been covered by some of the biggest bands on the planet.

U2 has covered fan favorite “Dancing Queen” in their live performances, while Erasure did an entire EP of ABBA songs titled “Abba-esque.” The disc included “Take A Chance On Me,” “Lay All Your Love on Me,” “SOS,” and “Voulez-Vous.” These covers gained critical acclaim and became instant classics for each band.
That all being said, “ABBA: The Movie” returns to movie theaters – newly re-mastered – for a two-day fan event on May 12 & 14 only.
This is a concert movie experience you really need to check out. It has been 50 years in the making and definitely a cinematic experience for all ages.
