World renowned guitarists Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Billy Morrison (Billy Idol) and a plethora of rock stars will be playing the 3rd annual “Above Ground” benefit concert for MusiCares on December 20th at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood.
This event has become an annual movement for those who care about things that matter where Navarro and Morrison get together and play full albums in their entirety to celebrate the vinyl album as an art form and to raise awareness and funds for treatment of mental health.
All profits from this event go directly to MusiCares, the leading music charity that acts as a safety net for the music community. Music is the safety net for most of us while we go through hard times so the people that make the music often get overlooked. To help prevent more tragedy within our music community, Morrison and Navarro are making it known that it’s okay to ask for help and MusiCares is a place you can go for that help.
Executive Director of MusiCares, Laura Segura says, “We are so grateful for Dave and Billy’s support of MusiCares with this incredible benefit concert, and for their continued support of our mission over the years.” She goes on to say, “The proceeds from this event will help music professionals who need various kinds of support, from physical and mental health, addiction recovery, preventative clinics, and more.”
Navarro, Morrison and their all-star band will be featuring the albums, “Transformer” by Lou Reed and “Never Mind the Bullocks” by Sex Pistols played in their entireties. Special guests will include Billy Idol, Perry Farrell (Jane’s Addiction), Etty Lau Farrell, Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters), Corey Taylor (Slip Knot), Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), guitarist Steve Stevens, Franky Perez and so many more surprises!
MusiCares helps the humans behind music because music gives so much to the world. Offering preventive, emergency, and recovery programs, MusiCares is a safety net supporting the health and welfare of the music community. Founded by the Recording Academy in 1989 as a U.S. based 501(c)(3) charity, MusiCares safeguards the well-being of all music people through direct financial grant programs, networks of support resources, and tailored crisis relief efforts
