It’s that time, friends. The time we’ve all been waiting a year and a half for: the return of actual live shows and festivals!
We are about to experience a historic time in the music industry. Not only have bands been stuck at home with nothing to do but get out all their angst, depression, anxiety, and cabin fever-ness in writing new material, but everyone wants to play shows. Even if you’re not in a band, you want to show off your piccolo skills you learned during quarantine, or the castanets you think you can play because you watched a YouTube video. It’s obvious everyone is looking to experience live music and buy overpriced bottled water and beer.
One of the epic live music events headed to California is the Aftershock Festival. The promoters turned away from Uncle Marty and his new found skills with the triangle and put together one of the biggest festivals with some of the biggest names in alternative rock. We aren’t kidding when we say “big.” This new to 2021 festival is FOUR days of bang your head, rock out with your socks out bands that we all know and love and never before have we seen them all in one place!
Here’s the lineup for the Aftershock Festival taking place in Sacramento at Discovery Park October 7-10.
Thursday Day 1:
Limp Bizkit, Anthrax, Testament, Exodus, Knocked Loose, Fit For a King, Oxymorrons
Friday Day 2:
Metallica, Rancid, Volbeat, Seether, Dropkick Murphys, Skillet, Suicidal Tendencies, Avatar, Pop Evil, Ayron Jones, Butcher Babies, Crobot, Des Rocs, Cleopatrick, Ego Kill Talent, Black Map, Unitytx, Contracult Collective
Saturday Day 3:
The original Misfits, The Offspring, Machine Gun Kelly, Gojira, Mudvayne, Body Count, Asking Alexandria, Atreyu, Badflower, Anti-Flag, August Burns Red, Bones UK, Alien Weaponry, The Black Moods, Blame My Youth, South of Eden, Another Day Dawns, American Teeth
Sunday Day 4:
Metallica, Social Distortion, Rise Against, Mastodon, Pennywise, In This Moment, Black Veil Brides, Steel Panther, Yelawolf, Grandson, Mammoth WVH, From Ashes to New, The Blue Stones, Law, All Good Things, Higher Power, Tempt, The Cold Stares
Even though Metallica is playing twice, we are told they will be very different sets.
The only bad news is… it is completely sold out! Be sure to add the hashtags on your social media to follow all the videos and photos of everyone else having fun at this epic festival. You can check their site for any breaking news on the line ups, tickets or otherwise.
A word of advice: don’t ponder concerts for a while; just buy your tickets asap! With the return of the concerts we crave to attend, there are a lot of people feeling the same way, so shows like this will continue to sell out for a bit.
