In a year that has been dominated with politics, the upcoming presidential election, or any of the silliness that we can see on any day, we can now take a deep breath and smirk because there is a website that we can all laugh with versus laughing at, it’s aliceforpresident.com
The rumors are true, Alice Cooper’s next presidential campaign has begun, well, kinda! “Elected,” is Copper’s 1972 masterpiece that still resonates today. Anyone who has been to an Alice Cooper show knows Cooper has used the song as a base to stage mock rallies at the end of his show, promoting his Wild Party and identifying himself as “a troubled man for troubled times.”

Truthfully, Cooper is not one that takes politics too seriously, but he does highly encourage his fans to stay informed. He’s even mocked the current process by saying “I have absolutely no idea what to do — so I should fit right in.” He’s gone on to say, “It’s the same joke over and over. It was funny when I started doing it, now I’m really tired of it.” He went on, “I just can’t believe these two (candidates) are the best we can do. Y’know what they really are? These two are the best that money can buy. What they should do is just pick up a phone book and put a finger on somebody; whoever it is, if it’s a guy who owns a gas station in Iowa, he should be president… It seems like anybody out there can be better than these two guys.”
He’s been adding to the political commentary too by keeping the straitjacket that he wears during “Ballad of Dwight Fry” when he mounts the podium to pronounce himself as “Elected.”
For the hard core Cooper fan, they are salivating that he has finished work on “a surprise album.” He hasn’t spilled the beans just yet on it, other than we know it is coming.
About touring today, he said, “I actually am having more fun with it now, because I can go to different places with it. It’s basically the same kind of show except now I put it into a form where I can have characters, ’cause once you’re in Alice’s Attic there’s broken dolls, a butler, Madeline the Mannequin — things you would normally find in an attic are now characters in the show. I’ve gotten to make it a little creepier, a little funnier.”
Along with new music, “I’m Alice,” “Welcome to the Show,” “White Line Frankenstein,” fans can look forward to some classic Cooper with, “Welcome to My Nightmare,” “Poison,” “Billion Dollar Babies,” “No More Mr. Nice Guy,” “Feed My Frankenstein,” and everyone’s summer song, “School’s Out.”
We were treated to seeing Cooper last on Rob Zombie’s Freaks on Parade Tour at Honda Center.
This time around he’ll pay OC a visit at Pacific Amphitheatre for the OC Fair Concert Series on Friday, August 16th.
Check out this incredibly creepy show, and say Hi to guitar God Nita Strauss while there, reason number 100 to check out this show.
