When I find myself in times of trouble Mother Mary comes to me speaking words of wisdom, let it be. Words and soulful melodies are the things legends are made of. Some of the most inspiring lyrics devised by humans has been delivered by our favorite artists. Their words help comfort us no matter what’s going on in our lives. Today, more than ever, we need our music and… our sonic heroes.
Over the past two weeks, we’ve seen event-after-event cancelled or postponed. We’ve seen some of the Goliath’s of the sporting world cancel their seasons, and our favorite bands also got the bump. Bands like The Stones, Pearl Jam, Bad Religion, Madness and uber-fests also got shut down. For many of us, we’ve never seen anything like this in our lifetime.
With the world in virtual lock-down, the titans are coming to rescue us yet again. Despite the bans on public events, many of our favorite crooners will soon be taking to the information superhighway to give us the salvation we need. Willie Nelson and his pals have already taken to the stage. They did the last night, and soon… many more will follow. Some of these online events are free, while other future events may be pay-per-view. Those pay-per-view shows will be a means to assist those most impacted by the dreadful effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
That all being said, there are three online shows tomorrow, Saturday, March 21st that you should take special note of. First up is heavyweight Americana power-pop King, Paul Collins. If you’re not familiar him, the Incredible Mr. Collins is a writer, author, music producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He’s best known for his work in the power-pop groups The Nerves, The Breakaways and The Beat. Collins is best known for his uber-hit Rock ‘n’ Roll Girl. He is one of the true gentlemen of the genre. Collins will do a Facebook live set at 12 Noon (Eastern time).

Following Paul will be Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse. This New Orleans inspired American blues-folk soul band was created by Louisiana-born-and-raised musician, Greta Valenti. Alongside her is UK British Blues Hall of Fame Inductee, Robin Davey. Valenti and Davey are very-well known in Southern California for their other band, Well Hung Heart. Davey also had other lives in The Hoax and DVL. The duo are joined by the talents of blues heavyweights Mark Barrett on Drums, Irish-American singer-songwriter Ali Coyle on Bass, pianist and vocalist Emma Jonson on Keys, and multi-instrumentalist Stephen Mildwater. This band is simply a must see. Beaux Grix Grix will play The Lockdown Music Festival, they go on at 1pm (Pacific time)

Rounding out the day is Minneapolis rocker Johnny Jetson formerly of the Tattooed Millionaires. Jetson has been described as having a true Rock n’ Roll soul with a pure Rock n’ Roll heart of gold. He’s electric live and does double duty singing and playing guitar. So the question most people have is why is Jetson so well-respected by his fellow musicians? The answer is simple; Johnny recently started a Facebook Page for Unsigned Bands, where he features a new band every week. He also started a monthly event called Fox On The Run in his hometown of Minneapolis where he brings back all the glitter, glam, and sexiness of the 70’s. Jetson is loud, dangerous, fast, exciting, and the kind of guy that you want to be your new best friend! Recent hits include I Believe in Rock And Roll. Catch Johnny tomorrow night at 7pm (Central time).
