AQUARIUM OF THE PACIFIC

AQUARIUM OF THE PACIFIC NEEDS OUR HELP
October 15, 2020 by Rachael Contreras
COVID-19 has hit everyone hard with job loss, school campus closures turned into distance learning, the stress of sickness and whatever else life can pile on but it has hit exotic animal-rescue type places the hardest.
Places like zoos and aquariums rely on ticket sales and donations to feed and care for the animals that we love to visit and learn about.  It also pays those employees and veterinarians that care for those animals on a 24-7 basis.  Because COVID-19 forced those places to shut down, they have not been receiving all of the necessary funds needed to help with the animals and their care.
As for the Aquarium of the Pacific, it is literally like stepping back in time or venturing into an alien world. No matter which exhibit or critter fascinates you most, they need our help.
This is where you come in.  This Saturday, you have the opportunity to help The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach at their annual Sea Fare fundraiser.
This year, they are going virtual!  Everyone, everywhere can attend for free!
The Sea Fare will bring these amazing details to the virtual party

THE EVENT

Bid on exciting items in the silent auction including exclusive VIP encounters and tours
Get an up-close look at some of your favorite animals including the sea otters, penguins, and more
Listen to inspirational stories of conservation and animal care
Meet the essential, dedicated staff who throughout the COVID-19 closures have never stopped educating, rescuing, connecting, inspiring, and caring for the animals that call the Aquarium home

Make a donation and support the Aquarium that will help them recover and grow from the stressful impact of COVID-19.
The Aquarium also currently has its outdoor areas open that you can visit at a reduced ticket price.  Have you ever touched a sting ray (on purpose)?  It’s a religious experience.  The smooth, velvet-like feel as they glide under your fingertips is unmatched at their Ray Touch Pool.
You also still get to see Sharks, Jellyfish, Seals, Sea Lions and so much more!  Important note that in the interest of social distancing, you must first reserve your ticket time before arrival.
We spoke with the Aquarium that had this to say about their exciting event:
The Aquarium of the Pacific’s seventeenth annual Sea Fare fundraiser is this Saturday, and for the first time anyone, anywhere can participate for free as we go virtual. The evening will feature an up-close look at some popular animals from sea lions to penguins, inspirational stories of conservation and animal care, and a chance to meet some of the dedicated staff who throughout the temporary Aquarium closures during the pandemic have never stopped educating, connecting, inspiring, and caring for the 12,000 animals that call the Aquarium home. To watch the livestream Sea Fare program or bid on the exciting auction items and animal experiences available, please visit www.seafare.org.”
While Sea Fare proceeds have always supported the Aquarium’s education, conservation, and animal care programs, this year your gifts are even more meaningful as they will help us to recover and grow from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Jillian Koehring, development event manager, Aquarium of the Pacific.
