Celebrating SoCal’s Rich Musical Diversity with BEACHLIFE MUSIC FEST

MARCH 2, 2020 by Tommy Johnson
2020 is turning out to be the year of the Mega festival! It’s only March, and so far we have some of the most epic shows in recent memory coming to SoCal. Now, BEACHLIFE MUSIC Festival is poised to be one of the biggest beach shows we’ve seen in a while.
Truthfully, before BEACHLIFE came to life, I don’t recall a live music show in L.A. County that was literally on the Beach. That was the challenge … and it was met by BEACHLIFE founders, Allen Sanford and business partner Rob Lissner.

Aside the cool tunes, another aspect of BeachLife Fest is the thought behind its creation. The Organizers had a clear vision, they wanted to make a difference in the local communities by directly and indirectly promoting and engaging in preserving our beaches and ocean environments. Since day one, it wasn’t hard to find partner’s that had the same aligned interests. Partners include Tito’s Handmade Vodka, The LA Kings, Heal the Bay, Surfrider Foundation, Walk with Sally, Life Rolls On, RBEF and the Redondo Beach Police Foundation just to name a few. Last year the Organizers were able to raise and donate over $60,000 towards the causes and partners that represent BeachLife’s values.

As for the main event, this year’s show will take place May 1st through the 3rd. The lineup literally reflects the music diversity of Southern California. For the locals, Day One is an event you can’t miss. The Friday lineup features Ziggy and Stephen Marley’s 75th Bob Marley Day Celebration. You’ll be able to take in Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, G.Love and Special Sauce, Tomorrow’s Bad Seeds and UB40 (featuring Ali Campbell and Astro). There’ll be some other very cools acts, and oh yeah… there’s a guy named Jim Lindberg of Pennywise playing this show. This is very special as Jim created a “SpeakEasy” stage that everyone is looking forward to checking out.

Day Two is Saturday May 2nd and it features Counting Crows, Live, Fitz and the Tantrums, Chevy Metal, Sugar Ray, Monique Powell’s Save Ferris and a more great acts that will make the day fly by.

The anchor on Day Three (Sunday May 3rd) features rock juggernauts Steve Miller Band. This day is something else as it has a little bit of everything for everybody. Also appearing are ska-punk legends, Sublime with Rome, Alt Rock favorites Long Beach Dub Allstars and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. There’s also Trever Keith of Face To Face, Jason Cruz of Strung Out and Jason Devore of Authority Zero. If that’s not enough, there’s funk icons WAR, and from the Country world you’ll be able to catch Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real.

What’s especially cool about this event is that the festival is literally right by the waves. You can Beachlife-it with special on-site mooring passes. There’s going to be great food, drinks and games. Definitely a festival to take in. Here’s more information on this epic Southern California experience and their partners.
