Bite Me Bambi are keeping the tradition of bringing a fantastic ska festival to the Garden Amp as they announced plans for the 3rd Annual Summer Sizzler are in full effect!
This all-day event features several bands launched by the Orange County ska band making ska cool again. The Sizzler will take place on September 9th and from what we hear, it will be another epic show for the OC ska community.
While last year’s theme was a summer luau in August, this year’s show promises an “end of summer, Mardi Gras event.”
The first Summer Sizzler was held in 2021 and featured Bite Me Bambi, as well as a reunion of Orange County’s legendary band The Scholars. They played live together for the first time in over a decade. They were known for launching the careers of future Reel Big Fish members, Aaron Barrett and Scott Klopfenstein,.. now, OC ska legends.
The second Summer Sizzler featured Suburban Legends, as well as a recently reunited Codename: Rocky, and a DJ set by Ghost Town Sound System.
Orange County has a rich history of ska bands that have been the pulse of the genre. bands like The Aquabats, Goldfinger, No Doubt, Rx Bandits, and Save Ferris.
The Summer Sizzler has established a place to showcase both up-and-coming ska acts, as well as those bands from the ‘90s that helped influence them.
Bite Me Bambi is unique for featuring members that highlight both thanks to their own members: lead singer Tahlena Chikami, guitarist Brian Mashburn, and trombonist T-Bone Willy (both formerly of Save Ferris and Starpool), Ryan Brown on bass (also of Suburban Legends), Mike Berault on keyboards (formerly of My Superhero), and Dan Evans on drums. This ensemble of kick-ass musicians are simply electric on stage.
So far the openers have been kept under lock and key. However, it has come out that Scott Klopfenstein’s current band, The Littlest Man Band, will be performing. More bands will be announced very soon.
As with previous Sizzlers, this will be an all-ages show, with tickets at $20 presale, $25 day of event.
