English alternative rockers The Charlatans and Ride will hit 12 US cities next year with Los Angeles holding the finale date. Dubbed the Between Nowhere North American tour, Charlatans and Ride will also visit three Canadian cities during their jaunt.
The Charlatans (UK) formed in 1988 and through 13 studio albums has found success with popular hits “The Only One I Know,” “White Shirt,” “Weirdo”,” “One to Another,” “Just When You’re Thinkin’ Things Over,” “North Country Boy,” and “How High.”
Surprisingly, for a band that has been around that long, it has remained largely intact with Tim Burgess (vocals), Mark Collins (guitars), Martin Blunt (bass) and Tony Rogers (keyboards). Sadly, drummer Jon Brookes passed away in 2013.
Ride was also formed in England in 1988 and is best known as part of the shoegaze movement. From their debut album, “Vapour Trail” put them on the map, but their single “Leave Them All Behind” gave them their best success and kept them on the road. The excessive touring and band tension led to their 1996 break up. Fortunately, they reunited in 2014 to tour again and release new material: “Weather Diaries” in 2017 and “This Is Not a Safe Place” in 2019. The band has stated they plan to release another new album in 2023 or 2024.
Ride retains their original lineup of Mark Gardener (vocals, guitar), Andy Bell (vocals, guitar – no, not Erasure’s Andy Bell), Steve Queralt (bass), and Laurence Colbert (drums).
