CHEAP TRICK

LIVE from COSTA MESA

This is Cheap Trick

February 18, 2021 by John McIntosh
I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to this summer because it appears we may see live shows again. Even more exciting, one of my favorite bands since my teenage years is playing the Pacific Amphitheatre in July. Who are these musical juggernauts causing my excitement? It’s Cheap Trick!
Even after 44 years, this band remains a giant among legends. They’ve done it all since their debut album in ’77, and they blew up when we fell in love with “Cheap Trick at Budokan” the following year. Cheap Trick has enjoyed critical acclaim from all over the planet and in 2016, they became members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

“Ain’t That a Shame,” “Clock Strikes Ten,” “I Want You to Want Me,” and “Surrender” remain tethered to our souls. Other uber-hits that engage our musical palettes are “She’s Tight,” and “Dream Police.” These songs are still played at radio stations worldwide and when you hear them, you can’t help but smile and sing along. That’s the power of music.

Covid has canceled a lot, but it hasn’t derailed our love of great music and support for our favorite bands. Cheap Trick features Robin Zander (vocals and rhythm guitar), Rick Nielsen (lead guitar), Tom Petersson (bass) and Bun E. Carlos (drums). Collectively, they bring their classic songs to life!

NOW in 2021, Cheap Trick has a new album coming soon. It’s titled “In Another World.” Their latest single is out called “Light Up The Fire.” So far, so good as the faithful are receiving the new tunes with enthusiasm.

To support the new tunes, the 2021 Cheap Trick tour starts in April in the land down under. After the Australian run, they move back to the states, which includes a night at the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa on July 13th and 14th.
