Counting Crows Butter Miracle

On the Road with New Music

July 15, 2021 by Traci Turner
We never lost our love for “Mr. Jones,” but we are certainly excited about new music from Counting Crows and their upcoming Butter Miracle Tour.
Adam Duritz and crew recently released their first new music in seven years, the EP “Butter Miracle, Suite One.” They will hit the road next month to promote the release, and see our faces again after the long absence we all endured.

Counting Crows have been a household name since their 1993 debut, “August and Everything After.” With “Mr. Jones,” “Round Here,” and “Rain King,” they shot up the charts and found a home on MTV. Appearances on SNL and Grammy nominations followed, and after two years of touring, they released their sophomore album, “Recovering the Satellites.” Once again, they found success from singles “Angels of the Silences,” “Daylight Fading,” and especially “A Long December.”
They hit a trifecta with their third album, “This Desert Life.” Radio loved “Hanginaround” and “All My Friends,” and to this day, I will declare “Colorblind” as one of my favorite songs – perhaps due to its perfect appearance in “Cruel Intentions.” Over the years, they have continued to release new music and even scored an Oscar nomination for “Accidentally in Love” from “Shrek 2.” While their 2019 symphony edition of “August and Everything After” was wonderful, we are ready to see them in their usual live band format.
After spending time on the English countryside in 2019 – sans famous dreads and facial hair – Duritz became inspired to write music for the first time in years. He sent the songs to his bandmates and the album was almost complete when the pandemic hit. The band worked through the challenges and released the EP in May 2021. Duritz told Spin, “It’s hard to hold an idea that you’re really passionate about only in your imagination for that long. But when we finally heard it, it was the coolest moment in my career, in a lot of ways. Like, just because there were things in this project that we never got to hear until it was completely done.
The Butter Miracle Tour is covering the entire US, including a stop at the BeachLife Festival in Redondo Beach. Special VIP packages are available for their headlining shows and include soundcheck performances, premium seats, autographed lyric sheet, special merch, and even an acoustic guitar.
