Grammy-winning country music artist Darius Rucker is bringing his Starting Fires Tour to Irvine’s FivePoint Amphitheatre and Rucker is sure to captivate the crowd with his signature blend of heartfelt ballads and foot-stomping anthems.
While many know Rucker as the former front-man of Hootie & the Blowfish, his solo career has taken off with chart-topping hits like “Wagon Wheel,” “Alright,” and “If I Told You.”
Known for his soulful baritone voice and enchanting stage presence, Rucker effortlessly connects with his audience, making each performance an intimate and unforgettable experience.
Since entering country music in 2008, he has scored nine number-one singles on the Billboard country music chart. It was recently announced that in 2024, Rucker will be the recipient of a coveted star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, joining only a handful of country artists who have been honored with a star. In 2019, Rucker reunited with his Hootie & the Blowfish bandmates for a successful tour and has been busy ever since. In 2021, he lent his soulful touch to a charity tribute album, “The Metallica Blacklist,” with his poignant cover of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters.”
Recently, Rucker dropped “Fires Don’t Start Themselves,” a single off his forthcoming album – his first in six years. Titled “Carolyn’s Boy” in honor of his late mother Carolyn, Rucker said in a recent interview, “At the end of the day, I’m really still just Carolyn’s Boy.” He continued, “I wanted to name the record ‘Carolyn’s Boy’ because Mom never got to see any of my success. She died before any of this happened, so it’s just another homage to the greatest woman I’ve ever known.” Rucker’s mother passed away in 1992, before the massive success of Hootie & the Blowfish erupted.
Kicking things off on the tour will be a wave of infectious energy courtesy of Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors, an indie folk-rock band whose irresistible sound blends heartfelt storytelling with soaring melodies.
