DEFTONES Drops New Album OHMS

September 25, 2020 by Rachael Contreras
Alert!  I repeat: Alert! This is not a drill!  Deftones new album is releasing TODAY!  Friday, September 25 is the day our Deftones familia has been waiting for; the newest album since 2016.  This new album titled; Ohms is Deftones nineth studio album and sure to be on the top of your playlist for a long time to come.
Deftones first two singles of this new album, Ohms and Genesis were a familiar Deftones sound but with updated synthesis and heavy EIGHT string guitar from Stephen Carpenter.
It was enough to wet your Deftones whistle but left you with an unbearable yearning for more.

Metal music’s legendary Terry Date produced this new album which is a recipe for Deftones perfection.  Fun factoid: Terry Date also produced Deftones first four records and the enigmatic album, ErosOhms is ten tracks, which makes it only about 45 minutes long, the band’s shortest album thus far.  Short but sweet with a perfectly blended combo of the synth/sample/drum beats like Gore, the hard rock sound of their self-titled album and the deep purposeful, deep words of White Pony.
The song Genesis has a chorus echo “Balance! Balance! Balance!” similar to “Shove it! Shove it! Shove it!”  from My Own Summer (Shove It), their 1997 hitThere’s also the The Spell Of Mathematics that is almost like two songs in one with the second half resembling the instrumental “U,U,D,D.L.R…” from Saturday Night Wrist all which helps bring their albums full-circle.

Front-man Chino Moreno has said, “Ironically, the record has a dystopian vibe that, in hindsight, really feels current to me… it just kind of happened how that’s the current state of a lot of people’s lives now — uncertainty about their surroundings and not feeling super optimistic.”
Ohms is now available on all streaming platforms.
Here is the track list off Ohms that will be the glue that holds the rest of this year together:
1. Genesis
2. Ceremony
3. Urantia
4. Error
5. The Spell of Mathematics
6. Pompeji
