It’s Official, the Official reopening of Disneyland has been postponed… officially! Disneyland was scheduled to reopen July 17th, but it will be postponed due to “pending government approvals.”
In a statement issued Wednesday afternoon, “The State of California has now indicated that it will not issue theme park reopening guidelines until sometime after July 4,” it said. “Given the time required for us to bring thousands of cast members back to work and restart our business, we have no choice but to delay the reopening of our theme parks and resort hotels until we receive approval from government officials. Once we have a clearer understanding of when guidelines will be released, we expect to be able to communicate a reopening date.”
Downtown Disney, will reopen as scheduled on July 9th.
So why is this happening? Understandably, some employee unions have raised their concerns over the safety of their workers returning to the theme park. This week alone, the number of Covid-19 infections increased by 69%.
Disney said in the announcement that it’s in negotiations with the unions to get employees back to work with “enhanced safety protocols that will allow us to responsibly reopen.”
No further information is available at this time. We’re on a wait and see basis now on the reopening of Disneyland and California Adventure.
