The long-awaited, much-anticipated Cruel World Festival will take place this weekend, but it will be missing Echo & the Bunnymen.
A few moments ago, the English band posted on their socials: “Due to visa delays out of our control, we won’t be playing this years ‘Cruel World’ Ian & Will are gutted not to be there, we’ll see you at next year’s festival.”
Ian McCulloch and Will Sergeant have given us so many classic ‘80s tracks; “The Cutter,” “The Killing Moon,” “Bring on the Dancing Horses,” “People Are Strange,” and “Lips Like Sugar.” The band was celebrating its 40th anniversary and has been able to tour in Europe, but getting to another continent remains an issue for many, especially when you have an entire crew to transport.
While it is unfortunate they cannot make it, the festival still has Morrissey, Bauhaus, Blondie, DEVO, The Psychedelic Furs, Public Image LTD, English Beat, Violent Femmes, The Church and many more.
TWO DAY SET TIMES
Less Echo
Cruel World Festival is taking place this Saturday (which is sold out) and Sunday at Brookside at The Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
