In the age of this Zombie Apocalypse, we seem to have somehow been able to entertain ourselves. NetFlix and e-sports have stepped it up, but the live music we all love so much has come to screeching stop. 2020 has turned out to be a SciFi movie that we are all unwilling participants in. Luckily for us, despite the canceled concerts, some of the bands, artist and venues are also stepping it up.
There’s no doubt that the Global Pandemic known as Covid-19 (Coronavirus) has impacted everyone in some way. It is downright scary to see some of of most iconic landmarks looking like ghost towns.
In Orange County, we take pride in our live music community. We’re home to some of the MOST legendary and infamous bands who have played at some of the most iconic venues worldwide. As the Fates would have it, they are happy with a local venue that has brought back live and local music;l that venue is Gallagher’s Pub in Huntington Beach.
With all the craziness going on, especially this past week; the timing is ironic and very welcomed all at the same time. On Saturday May 2nd, Gallagher’s will stream its first live band showcase. For the inaugural broadcast they will feature one of OC’s OG’s of punk, Shattered Faith.
The exclusive event kicks off at 7:30pm. It will be live streamed on YouTube and Facebook as well on the Gallagher’s website.
Unlike some events, this is not a pay-per-view set-up. Instead to help with the cost associated with putting on the event, it’s a donation type of show. everyone is struggling to deal with what’s going on, and Gallagher’s ownership just wants to entertain people, and so does the band. In the end, Gallagher’s and the bands we love may make a living by what they get, but they also have made a life in this industry by what they give.
