NAMM 2024 kicks off tomorrow at the Anaheim Convention Center and there is so much to do, we have no idea how it can only be Wednesday through Sunday as attendees can experience over 500 events, 200 performers, and more than 3,500 exhibitors!
NAMM (The National Association of Music Merchants) is “the largest global not-for-profit music trade organization.” This annual event features industry and educational sessions that include “retail, brands, professional audio, music technology, live event production, music education, artists, nonprofit and community leaders, college music business students and more.”
John Mlynczak, NAMM president and CEO, said, “The 2024 NAMM Show will reconnect the global music industry and rock on every level, from our music stages, to educational and industry programs, to incredible exhibitors on the show floor.”
More than 170 global artists and bands are scheduled to perform at the show and feature a variety of genres including rock, pop, bluegrass, funk, hip-hop, mariachi, jazz. Acts include Mariachi Divas De Cindy Shea, R&B star Khalil Nash, Chris Rocha of Miel San Marcos, Roni Lee, Venice, Ede Callier, Yachty by Nature, and many more.
Some of the highlights include:
Thursday: She Rocks Awards hosted by Susanna Hoffs of The Bangles. The honorees for the 12th anniversary edition include Debbie Gibson, Lindsey Stirling, Bonnie McIntosh, Britt Lightning, Kelsy Karter, Holly G, Sylvia Massy, Lindsay Love-Bivens, Melinda Newman, Laura Karpman, and Jamie Deering. Stirling is an electronic violinist, dancer, and artist who scored herself four Billboard chart-topping albums and two Billboard Music Awards. With nearly 3.5 billion views on YouTube, and 3.4 million followers on TikTok, she is a performer you must see!
Saturday: 39th Annual NAMM TEC Awards. The TEC Awards “recognize the individuals, companies and technical innovations behind the sound of recordings, live performances, films, television, video games and multimedia.” Previous winners include Les Paul, Quincy Jones, Joe Perry, Pete Townshend, Stevie Wonder, and Joni Mitchell.
Of course the surrounding venues in and around Anaheim will have concerts tying into NAMM with a highlight being legendary guitarist John 5 at The Observatory OC Friday night.
This looks like the makings of another fantastic year for NAMM, and we will be there in person to cover it for you. Check back for photos and updates from OC Music News.
