The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2021 inductees were announced today and the Foo Fighters and Go-Go’s made the cut!
It was the first year of availability for the Foo Fighters, although front-man Dave Grohl has already been inducted with Nirvana. The band continues to have an amazing year, appearing basically everywhere after the release of their newest album, “Medicine at Midnight.”
This was also the first nomination for The Go-Go’s, despite “Beauty and the Beat” being 40 years old. The “all girl” band beat out several of their male counterparts to achieve the induction goal.
In order to be eligible for induction, artists’ first single or album must have been released in 1995 or earlier (25 years from release to eligibility).
Other performance inductees for 2021 include JAY-Z, Carole King, Todd Rundgren, and Tina Turner. LL Cool J and Randy Rhodes are receiving awards for musical excellence and Kraftwerk scored an early influence award.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies will take place on October 30th and will be air on HBO and stream on HBO Max at a later date.
