San Diego punk band Rocket from the Crypt is returning to the stage this October, landing at House of Blues San Diego. Obviously, it would be too easy to make a Halloween and Crypt joke, so I’ll skip it and just say October 28th, you can catch the “On a Rope” rockers along with Tijuana Panthers.
With front-man John “Speedo” Reis on guitar and vocals, Pete “Petey X” Reichert on bass, Andy “ND” Stamets also on guitar, Paul “Apollo 9” O’Beirne on saxophone and percussion, Jason “JC 2000” Crane on trumpet and percussion, and Mario “Ruby Mars” Rubalcaba on drums, this show is sure to be loud and electrifying.
After their first major label album, 1995’s “Scream, Dracula, Scream!” gave us “On a Rope,” “Young Lives,” and “Born in ’69,” Rocket from the Crypt found success in the US on the alt rock charts and radio, plus lots of MTV love. Ten years later though, they were playing a farewell show in San Diego – on Halloween – and went dark.
But a 2011 appearance on the kid’s show “Yo Gabba Gabba!” – which has also seen The Aquabats, My Chemical Romance, Jimmy Eat World, The Flaming Lips, and several other amazing bands appear – brought them back together for a reunion tour. They did a Halloween gig last year as well, so this date seems to be carrying on the tradition. There are also rumors of additional tour dates…
This is sure to be a hot ticket, so do not sleep on this one!
