Nu Metal Madness is back with its second annual show and a hefty lineup. Headlining the show is Orange County’s own (hed)pe, with Adema and Tantric. Nu Metal Madness has been around the country on a whirlwind adventure through the month of April, and will continue into the beginning of May, finishing the tour May 13th at Garden Amp in Garden Grove.

(hed)pe blasted onto underground stages in the mid ‘90s with their self-titled debut album. Combining the sounds of hip hop and turntables with metal, in a way that no one had done before, the band started selling out clubs throughout Southern California and beyond.
It wasn’t until their second album, 2000’s “Broke,” and their first single, “Bartender,” that they gained the attention of mainstream radio stations and movie studios. Their second hit, “Killing Time,” was on the soundtrack of “3000 Miles to Graceland,” the smash movie featuring Kevin Costner and Kurt Russell.
Though there has been some lineup changes throughout their 30-year history, the band is still fronted by M.C.U.D. also known as Jared Gomes. Gomes recently told me that one of the most popular questions he gets asked is if there will ever be a reunion show with the beloved original members and his answer was, “No; the mechanics of putting it together, the practice for guys that live all over the country, the fact that everyone is busy with their current lives and jobs, etc. is just too hard to configure on top of a current (hed)pe line up.” That being said, DJ Product has been known to pop up onstage at a (hed)pe show here and there so who knows what will happen at this OC show with home court advantage.
Adema, now fronted by industrial rock legend Ryan Shuck, and Tantric will be supporting acts, but they are headliners in the nu metal book of music.
Garden Amp is the perfect location for this event and this is sure to be a monstrous good time, so grab tickets while you still can.
