Sometimes hearing something familiar can sound new when you haven’t heard it in a while. Such is the case for countless punk rock fans, and the music they can’t wait to hear again belongs to Iggy Pop!
Iggy fans can enjoy the proto-punk-self-mutilation king as he celebrates his birthday with a livestream on Wednesday, April 21st. The performance was recorded in April 2019 at the Sydney Opera House and it will rock the pillars of the foundation of music fans everywhere.
Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan as James Newell Osterberg Jr., he is known to his legions of fans worldwide as Iggy Pop. He is loud, outrageous, and recklessly electrifying on stage; so much so, he’s earned the distinction of being dubbed “the Godfather of Punk.”

Iggy made quite the impression when he fronted The Stooges in the late ‘60s and carried on through the mid-‘70s, with a few reincarnations. Now a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, his catalog of hits has some era-defining songs, such as “Lust for Life,” “The Passenger,” “James Bond,” “Real Wild Child,” and “Candy” (with Kate Pierson of the B-52s).
To be part of the birthday celebration and performance, get your tickets now. The livestream will take place at 11 a.m. (Pacific Time) on April 21, 2021.
