MERCURY WORLD TOUR

August 26, 2022 by Alaina Pierce
Imagine Dragons ROCKS North America this fall on the third leg of their monumentally ambitious Mercury World Tour. Hungry to feed off the kind of energy that only exists in a stadium filled with fans, Imagine Dragons is delivering explosive performances across the states, and invited some very special guest artists to join in on their immersive feast. Opening for America’s favorite rock band are two incredibly entertaining acts: American rapper Macklemore and London-based vocalist Kings Elliot.
The multiplatinum, Grammy Award-winning band embarked on their year-long Mercury World Tour in February of 2022, in celebration of their two latest studio album releases: “Mercury – Acts 1” (released in September 2021) and its successor, “Mercury – Acts 2” (released in July 2022).
Fans starving for new music since 2018, when the band dropped its fourth album, “Origins,” were treated with just a taste of what’s to come on their upcoming record, when they released two singles in March 2021.

“Cutthroat” and “Follow You” were met with immediate success, which only caused anticipation to swell among fans for the full release of “Mercury – Acts 1.” Soaring to the top of the charts at lightning speed, “Follow You” swiftly secured the number one spot on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay and Mediabase’s Alternative Radio chart, breaking the records of their previous smash hits, “Believer” and “Natural.”
Chock full of brooding anthems that pulse through your veins in all the right ways, “Mercury – Act 2” compliments and completes the second half to “Mercury – Act 1,” which was intended to be a double album. While “Act 1” candidly takes you through the shock and emotional, no-holds-barred exploration of loss, “Act 2” confronts grief and the existential consequences that linger from the loss. Front-man Dan Reynold’s lyrics journey through a whole gamut of emotions; contemplative, dark, and at times amusing and witty.
Kicking off the North American leg of the tour, the band played to a sold-out stadium of 40,000 in Salt Lake City. While the purpose of this tour is to support their newest albums, this stadium-shaking band thrives on bringing people together through live music and continues to perform hits from all their albums. And let’s be honest, with an astronomical number of chart-topping hits from every album they’ve produced, the odds they’ll play your fan favorite is sort of like spinning a game wheel of songs at their concert, hoping it stops on yours, and winning every time.
Imagine Dragons, with their dynamic sound and Reynolds’ booming voice, hails from Las Vegas. Imagine Dragons formed in 2009, hitting the music scene with a force by 2010. After independently releasing EPs in the early 2010s, the band signed with a major label and made their big break with singles “It’s Time,” “Radioactive,” “Demons,” and their first album, “Night Visions” peaking at number two on the Billboard chart in the first week.
Their momentum only picked up speed over the last decade, and these giants show no signs of slowing down.
Imagine Dragons will be ending their North American tour in Los Angeles at the Banc of California Stadium on September 15th.
With incredible reviews already pouring in, don’t miss out on your last chance to see them perform live before they continue their world tour in South America.
