THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT # 10

LIGHTYEAR

June 28, 2022 by Josh Coutts
In our ongoing That’s Entertainment series, we turn to the world of animated features and one of this year’s must see movies, “Lightyear.”
Well, let’s break down this fantastically charming movie that is an absolute treat. Of course, we all know Buzz Lightyear from the “Toy Story” films, but now Pixar is giving us his origin story.
Buzz Lightyear is a Space Ranger in Star Command who is exploring the galaxy and runs into trouble. Along with his commanding officer and best friend, Alisha Hawthorne, and new recruit, Featheringhamstan, they land on a planet, but find they are not exactly welcome.
Unfortunately, they have damage to their spacecraft and can’t leave just yet. The repairs also don’t go as planned, so they end up on the planet for YEARS. Evil villain Zurg shows up, plus a host of new characters.

Does Buzz ever make it home? You’ll have to watch to find out! But what does happen is we find out how Buzz became toy-worthy to join in the “real” world of “Toy Story.”
You get to hear classic one liners and sayings that were made famous in the “Toy Story” films. The visuals are amazing and it is a killer story. I was beyond stoked to see this in theaters and have been waiting a long time to see it.
The cast of humans portraying our space heroes includes Chris Evans as Buzz Lightyear; he slayed and was the perfect voice for Buzz. Keke Palmer (Izzy Hawthorne) was solid choice, along with Peter Sohn (Sox), Taika Waititi (Mo Morrison), James Brolin (Zurg), Uzo Aduba (Alisha Hawthorne), Bill Hader (Featheringhamstan), and Efren Ramirez (Diaz).
“Lightyear” is definitely worth a watch, especially on the big screen.

Go see this wonderfully charming movie with the entire family: “To Infinity… and Beyond!” And remember to enjoy the movies!
