The Honda Center Show
August 16, 2023 by Jimmy Alvarez
There are lots of opinions on this, but for me, Heaven is a place in Anaheim, California. No, not the Happiest Place on Earth, but pretty damn close. I am referring to the Honda Center as they are celebrating their 30th year of entertaining us with yet another great show. This time OC welcomes Lost ‘80s Live.
This edition of Lost ‘80s Live features the who’s who of yesteryear. The event is a national tour put together and curated by Rob Juarez. Having a flare for big successful shows, Juarez has created an event with artists that have a special place in our hearts. These bands and artists were all chart toppers with regular rotation on radio airwaves and MTV. Since then, they have remained fan favorites.

The genres include two-tone ska, alt rock, and new wave. Notables include America’s first ska band, The Untouchables, featuring founding member Jerry Miller. Best known for hits like “Free Yourself,” “What’s Gone Wrong,” “I Spy for the F.B.I.,” and more recently, “Hooked on a Feeling.” These legends will entertain us with their energetic music and fantastic stage show.
Other big names from back in the day to look out for include Shannon (“Let the Music Play”), Musical Youth (“Pass the Dutchie”), Stacey Q (“Two of Hearts”), Animotion (“Obsession”), Wang Chung (“Dance Hall Days,” “Everybody Have Fun Tonight”), Naked Eyes (“Something There to Remind Me”), Trans-X (“Living on Video”), Wally Palmar of The Romantics (“What I Like About You”), Missing Persons with Dale Bozzio (“Words,” “Walkin in L.A.,” “Destination Unknown,” “Mental Hopscotch”).
What should be a very entertaining blast from the past is Dave Wakeling bringing back the sights and sounds of General Public. Coming to life will be some of our favorite tunes, “Hot You’re Cool,” “General Public,” “Never You Done That,” the Al Bell cover of “I’ll Take You There,” “Too Much or Nothing,” and their super-hit, “Tenderness.”
The anchor of the event will be Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Belinda Carlisle. She’ll be there belting out her hits too, “Mad About You” and “Heaven is a Place on Earth.” We just might get lucky and get a few of her Go-Go’s mega hits.
Both shows will be hosted by our favorite DJ, Richard Blade. He is no stranger to larger-than-life bands. Blade brings decades of stories and great music always follows him no matter where he is.

The tour hits Humphrey’s by the Bay in San Diego on August 25th before heading northbound on the I-5 for the Honda Center show August 26th. Your last chance to check out the tour hits The Greek Theatre on August 27th.
This is going to be a very memorable night; some tickets are still available, so get yours and grab your dancing shoes to go out to this one!
