MANIC HISPANIC

Back in the OC

March 8, 2022 by Rachael Contreras
It’s here! One of the biggest show announcements to kick off our summer shows has arrived: Manic Hispanic is playing The Observatory in Santa Ana. On May 6th, Santa Ana will be graced with the Chicano cover supergroup that hasn’t seen a lineup like this in years.

If you aren’t familiar with Manic Hispanic, they are a “Chicano punk rock” band made up of popular punk band members. It’s like a punk rock Menudo singing the punk songs you love with humorous Chicano-based lyrics.
These vatos are not only some of the most creative minds around, but they will keep you more entertained than a telenovela. With hits like “Rudy Cholo,” “Creeper is a Lowrider,” “My Tia,” “I Want to Be a Cholo,” and “Mexico,” you will be thrilled to hear their newest songs off their latest album, “Back in Brown.” live. Some of our favorites include “Holding Cell” put to the tune of Fugazi’s “Waiting Room,” and “Mas Chingones” that sounds eerily similar to Bouncing Souls “True Believers.”
The Observatory will be hosting this spectacular display of artistry on May 6th with supporting bands Swingin’ Utters, Riverboat Gamblers, and Robber. You can catch a similar lineup the day before (May 5th) in San Diego with Authentic Sellout at the Music Box.

Manic Hispanic explains it like this: “With some OG’s and some new blood the future looks a bright like Aztec gold spray painted rims, if they can manage to stay out the pinta or not get deported.”
This is a show you won’t want to miss. These homies only come around when the coast is clear so get your tickets now while you can! If you miss out, it will definitely be your loss!
