One thing you can’t deny is that life for 59-year-old Dave Mustaine is never boring. He is a winemaker, a brewer of beer, a publisher of comic books, a successful podcaster, a black-belt in both taekwondo and karate, a throat cancer survivor, and was recently named a brand ambassador for Gibson Guitars.
Of course we primarily know him from his band Megadeth. The band has sold 38 million records worldwide over the last 38 years and is about to embark on a 28-city, co-headlining tour with Lamb of God. In 2019, Mustaine stopped touring and announced he had been diagnosed with throat cancer, which forced him to stop playing shows in order to start treatment. In February of this year, he issued a statement that he’s cancer-free and will be hitting the road again with metal acts Lamb of God, Trivium and In Flames.
The highly charged “Tour of the Year” was postponed due to the pandemic, but the Live Nation tour will now kick off on Friday, August 20th in Austin, TX. The tour will have a late summer stop at Five Point Amphitheatre in Irvine on September 1st.
Speaking on the long-awaited announcement of the rescheduled run, Mustaine says “Can you hear that sound of armies on the march – of destruction on the horizon? That’s this tour, coming for you. We cannot wait to return to the stage and I promise you you do NOT want to miss these shows. You’re not going to know what hit you!”
In May, Megadeth dismissed founding member Dave Ellefson after reports of sexual misconduct with a female fan came to light. Ellefson was accused of grooming an underage girl through messages and videos online, which circulated on social media (Ellefson has vehemently denied the allegations).
All previously purchased tickets for any of the rescheduled dates listed below will be valid for the new date. For any cancelled dates, refunds will automatically be processed at your point of purchase.
