It’s hard to believe that we’re headed into autumn of 2021. The arrival of autumn means the start of entertainment awards season. We’ll see awards show of all types happening very,very soon. Included in that mix is this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, or as they are more affectionately known, the VMAs. Be warned and be ready; the awards will take place this Sunday, September 12th!
This year is very special as Rock and Roll Hall of Famers return. That’s right, Foo Fighters will come back to the stage for the first time in 15 years. Although the HOF moniker isn’t technically official until October 30th when the HOF induction ceremony takes place… whatevs, right? They’re still badass and they’re still the Foo’s.
The band will receive the first global icon award ever presented. In return for this prestigious honor, Grohl & Company will return to the stage to entertain us the way they do.
Also set to appear are first-time performers Olivia Rodrigo and Machine Gun Kelly. You’ll also see Lorde, Camila Cabello, and Lil Nas X among others on the bill. 2021 has been very good musically speaking to all these artists.
Circling back to the Foo’s, they are being nominated for three awards at this year’s VMAs. The considerations are for the single, “Shame Shame.” The award nods include best rock, best choreography and best cinematography categories.
Personally, I think “No Son of Mine,” (JKL version) or “Making a Fire” (Visualizer version) by the Foo’s should have been included, they are great songs off their hit album “Medicine at Midnight.” I get this is the VMA’s and not the Grammys, but those are cool (AF) videos too, so I digress.
Strap in, because the 2021 MTV VMAs are happening and will be broadcast live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. As mentioned it’ll take place this Sunday (September 12th) at 8 p.m. ETTO WATCH THE VMA’S
