In the world of high energy pop-punk, Paul Weller, founding member of The Jam – is definitely the Bee’s Knees, and he’s coming to North America!
66 is out on May 24th — one day before Weller’s 66th birthday. It features contributions from Noel Gallagher, Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie, Madness’ Suggs McPherson, Richard Hawley, The Blow Monkeys’ Dr. Robert, and more.
As for his musical legacy, we all sang and danced to his jams, “That’s Entertainment,” “Going Underground,” “The Bitterest Pill (I Ever Had to Swallow),” “The Eton Rifles,” “Beat Surrender,” their Spiderman Jam, and the Jam’s larger-than-life super hit, “Town Called Malice.”
He also did his time with the Style Council and enjoyed great success with “You’re The Best Thing,” “Long Hot Summer,” “Walls Come Tumbling Down,” “Shout to the Top,” and “My Ever Changing Moods.”
You can ask any of his fans anywhere on the planet and they will testify he did pretty well on his own with hits like “Sunflower,” “Shades of Blue,” “Into Tomorrow,” “Starlie,” and “Peacock Suit.”
They will add he is the legend stories are made of and exemplifies the saying “may your dreams be greater than your fears!”
The tour will be in support of his upcoming album simply titled “66.” The North American leg kicks off on September 6th in Red Bank, New Jersey.
The tour will traverse North America with stops in Brooklyn, Toronto, and Chicago before a stop in San Diego at The Magnolia on September 25th, then an epic night at the House of Blues Anaheim on September 26th.
If that isn’t enough, you can jam in another night of Paul Weller September 27th at The Orpheum in Los Angeles. General public tickets go on sale Friday, April 12th.
