PET SHOP BOYS & NEW ORDER

Unity Invades Hollywood Bowl

October 6, 2022 by Traci Turner
The event we have been anticipating for YEARS is finally here: Pet Shop Boys and New Order are bringing their North American Unity Tour to Hollywood Bowl for two nights this weekend.
Originally scheduled for 2020, the North American tour has been thrilling audiences with full sets from both artists, plus DJ Paul Oakenfold in between.

Pet Shop Boys are known for being perfectionists with their tours, and what we have seen so far is fantastic. They have been performing songs from their Dreamworld Greatest Hits set, so we can expect “Always On My Mind,” “Suburbia,” “Opportunities (Let’s Make Lots of Money),” “What Have I Done to Deserve This?,” “It’s a Sin,” and “West End Girls.”
New Order has also been doing a blend of New Order and Joy Division tracks, including a nice touch to the late Ian Curtis, front-man for Joy Division. They have been consistent with “The Perfect Kiss,” “Age of Consent,” “Bizarre Love Triangle,” “True Faith,” “Temptation,” “Love Will Tear Us Apart,” and of course, “Blue Monday.”
Now, here is my wish for us all… In 1989, New Order front-man, Bernard Sumner formed Electronic with Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr. Pet Shop Boys’ Neil Tennant sang on two of their tracks (“Getting Away With It” and “Disappointed”), so maybe there will be a mini reunion? Electronic’s only US performances were the Depeche Mode Dodger Stadium shows in 1990, where both Pet Shop Boys joined them, so we are going to hope they make it happen! This is Los Angeles, after all!
If you had tickets for previous dates, they remain valid. OC Music News will be there, so if you can’t make it, we will give you the full recap next week!
