Illinois rockers Plain White T’s have just kicked off their Fired Up Tour in support of their self-titled album, which was released in November 2023.
The band that made themselves a household name with 2006’s “Hey There Delilah” have continued to put out catchy songs, as evidenced by “1, 2, 3, 4,” “Rhythm of Love,” and “Our Time Now.” The new record brings the sound we love with songs “Happy,” “Would You Even,” “Red Flags,” and “Spaghetti Tattoo.” (Honestly, I have about five tattoo ideas from that song title alone.)
Formed in the Chicago area in 1997, Plain White T’s founding member Tom Higgenson remains on lead vocals, guitar, and keyboards, Tim G. Lopez also handles guitar, Mike Retondo is master of the bass, and De’Mar Randell Hamilton is behind the drum kit.
Upon the newest album’s release, Higgenson said, “We were trying to hark back to sounds we’ve used in the past with a freshness.” He added, “This one came from a really authentic place of understanding who we are and what we do. I’m more excited than I’ve been in a long time. As musicians, we’re always trying to outdo ourselves or go somewhere we haven’t gone before. Somehow, we figured out how to go to a fresh spot and still sound like Plain White T’s.”
Lending support will be Australian indie band Pollyanna, plus other artists in each city. At this Saturday’s Chain Reaction show in Anaheim, Dev Lemons will grace the stage as well.
OC Music News will bring you a full review from the Nashville show, but don’t let that stop you from seeing it for yourself.
