OC MUSIC NEWS ADDS RACHAEL CONTRERAS TO NEWS TEAM

ORANGE, CALIFORNIA | Accomplished music journalist Rachael Contreras will be joining the OC MUSIC NEWS writing staff.
Rachael is an OC native and got started in music when she was in high school. She was a photographer and had her photos published in the CD insert for the band Longfellow.  This caught the eye of the editor and chief of Skratch Magazine.  From that moment on, Rachael became a photographer for Skratch shooting bands like Pennywise, The Aquabats, Voodoo Glow Skulls,  No Use For A Name, Rx Bandits, 22 Jacks, Alien Ant Farm, D.I., Kottonmouth Kings, Home Grown, Save Ferris, Jeffries Fan Club, and the like.

Rachael was also a skateboard photographer for the short-lived Evidence Skateboarding Magazine and a BMX clothing company catalog.  She didn’t stop at photography with Skratch, she also set up photographers, concert reviewers and interviewers with bands, record labels and venues as the show coordinator. Because of her networking abilities, she was put in charge of the “extreme sports” (skateboarding, snowboarding and surfing) ad sales for the launch of their glossy color cover.

She was also the band manager for the band, Abducted. If that wasn’t enough to keep her busy, she also put on her own shows at Koo’s Cafe in Santa Ana called, “Rachael-O-Rama”. There were 5 Rachael-O-Rama’s with bands that included Slightly Stoopid, Simply Kung Fu, Rx Bandits, Longfellow and more!

WARPED TOUR!

Rachael is also a Warped Tour photography vet, she literally got to go to the rock show and shoot those infamous years that Blink sings about. She also caught Eminem, Pennywise, Suicidal Tendencies and Ice-T on those larger than life shows.

Rachael is now very involved in education and the schools that her three kids attend.  She proves that you can be punk rock at any age and PTA Vice President!  She occasionally joins TNN RADIO | KXFM 104.7 FM in Southern California as a show contributor. She’ll be writing stories for OC Music News on upcoming shows, reviews and interviews…. she’ll also share all her insights of what makes a legendary band.

Funny factoid:  Rachael and her oldest child share a birthday, her husband and her 2nd child share a birthday but her 3rd child has a birthday all his own.

Rachael’s stories are now featured at ocmusicnews.com.
