In our ongoing That’s Entertainment series, we now cover the next installment in the Predator science fiction/action movie franchise. I was very excited to see this one, the movie is simply titled, “Prey.”
This time around we get an origin story. It is the first time a Predator has been down to Earth for a hunt; they are not including stories of other Alien/Predator films since this is a prequel.
“Prey” is set in the world of the Comanche Nation 300 years ago. Naru is a skilled female warrior out to prove that she can hunt, and damn can she!
She absolutely kicks ass! If you wanted a strong female lead in a film, this is it. An alien predator is hunting humans for sport, and Naru is fighting to keep her people safe. This movie is visually stunning and it is truly electrifying and shocking!
The kills in this movie are gory and beyond solid by any form of measurement. The Predator is awesome and the cast and director are killer. Director Dan Trachtenberg – of “10 Clover Field Lane” fame – does a fantastic job taking over the director’s chair. Amber Midthunder is the lead of the film and is also the first female lead of this movie series.
Other cast members such as Dakota Beavers (Taabe) is a fantastic cast choice as well and the new Predator shoes are filled by Dane DiLiegro who does a fantastic job. Stormee Kipp (Wasape) and Michelle Thrush (Aruka) also add so much to this movie.
This is the fifth movie in the Predator series, but the first prequel. I think it is awesome and I hope they do more with this. It adds a new dimension to the franchise. It is diabolically creepy and entertaining while drawing you in to root for the humans.
It’s the first in the series to be released on a streaming service and as a Hulu original, it’s exclusive to Hulu. Give it a watch!
