Imagine spending the day with unlimited beer tasting (for 21+), rad food, festivities for the kids and multiple stages to watch the live acts including Pennywise, The Vandals, The Adicts, Lagwagon, Fear, Bouncing Souls, TSOL, Guttermouth, and Pully just to name a few!
Well, it’s happening on Saturday April 25th at Oak Canyon Park right here in the OC. Local radio juggernaut KROQ and Brew Ha Ha present Punk in the Park. A beer and music festival with one of the best line-ups a punk (and non-punk) could ask for!
Pennywise has been providing us with pulverizing punk rock since 1988. Since the intro to “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” the first track off their self-title debut in 1991, you are immediately plummeted into a rage of pure punk rock euphoria that has kept going through the decades. You haven’t thoroughly enjoyed them until you’ve seen them live and can say you jumped on stage to join them during their final song of every set, “Bro Hymn.”
BRO HYMN
Since 1980, The Vandals have been awarding us with the most creative, hilarious yet intelligent music and lyrics that keeps you glued to each line wondering what they could possibly think of next!
The Adicts, from Suffolk, England, might be best known for their “Clockwork Orange” image since ‘79, preforming in white clothing, black boots and bowler hats while singer, Keith “Monkey” Warren wears his fun front man version of this band attire.
Viva La Revolution
If you listen to any of the bands listed above, you’ve either already heard of Lagwagon or you’re a major fan of Lagwagon. Their catchy sound and punk riffs are so good it’s impossible to not tap your toes to any of their songs they’ve been creating since 1990. With songs like, “May 16” you can hear the diversity and genius in their song writing.
If you have ever listened to punk rock, it’s likely one of the most influential punk rock bands of all time, Fear, has played on your speakers at least eight dozen times. With over 5 million plays on Spotify for the 1978 single, “I Love Livin’ in the City” that was later released on their 1979 debut album, “The Record,” it’s pretty safe to say Fear is here to stay!
The New Brunswick, NJ band, Bouncing Souls bring a fast paced and light-hearted feel to punk rock. These high school friends have been writing and preforming music since 1989 that you can mosh, dance or sing to. Bottom line, there will be a ton of great bands playing, there will be a little bit of everything for everybody!
