RIDE

Live Stream with Ride

August 5, 2020 by Leeza London
Oxford indie legends Ride, broke up in 1996, after an eight year career, that started, like many other bands, after seeing The Smiths perform in 1988.
Andy Bell (lead guitar, vocals) and Mark Gardner (rhythm guitar, vocals) met at Cheney School, then moved to Banbury to attend The Oxforshire School of Art & Design. That’s where they recruited Laurence “Loz” Colbert (drums), and Steve Queralt (bass guitar), and after numerous band name suggestions, Ride was born (named after the ride cymbal).
Ride released four critically acclaimed albums through Creation Records, home of My Bloody Valentine, Primal Scream, and Oasis (who Andy Bell would ultimately join in 2000).

After Ride’s split, each band member formed new bands or ventured into solo projects. In 2001, they even met up for a one-off tv appearance, but it wasn’t until 2014 that Ride announced they would officially be reuniting and booking a world tour.
Since then, the band have played multiple tour dates, and recorded two more albums “Weather Diaries” (2017) and “This Is Not A Safe Place” (2019).  On February 13th, 2020, Ride played their last live show before the COVID-19  lockdown at Le Trianon, Paris. Their drum tech Nick Burton captured this amazing shot of drummer Laurence “Loz” Colbert from behind his kit, looking on to a sea of shoegazing, generation x’ers, reliving their youth as the band transported them back to the early 90’s.
Although Loz won’t be having this view again in the foreseeable future, at least he will be able to get behind his kit tomorrow (August 6th 2020), and stream live, along with his Ride bandmates for a special, ONE-OFF performance, in conjunction with Dice.fm, to a hand full of lucky fans that were able to buy a ticket to this intimate event.

Ride will be meeting at a secret location in London, and livestreaming at 8:30pm (BST) London. Their “virtual show” will be broadcast loud and fully amped. Fans will only be able to watch online in REAL TIME, as the show WILL NOT be archived. And as an added treat, the band members will host a live Q&A afterwards.
In addition, they have created a series of new, limited edition t-shirts featuring classic 90s Ride designs including daffodils, roses, logo blocks and Vapour Trail prints, which will only be available to ticket holders.

*Ticket holders will be sent the exclusive online store link ahead of the show to purchase the limited edition t-shirts.
