The House of Blues in Anaheim has had a ton of great shows pass through recently and after taking a look at their event calendar for the upcoming months, I was instantly overwhelmed with FOMO. But, you don’t have to wait a month to see another amazing one because coming to the House of Blues Anaheim on September 29th is Los Angeles-based alt rockers, Silversun Pickups on their Physical Thrills Tour.

The Grammy-nominated band has come a long way since being a featured band on KROQ’s Locals Only show. They’ve just released a new album called “Physical Thrills” and are kicking off their tour here in Orange County.
This tour will take Silversun Pickups on a cross-country trek from California to Florida, wrapping it in November in Nashville. The first single off “Physical Thrills,” “Scared Together,” is an aggressively groovy, effects-heavy song that manages to feel both stripped down and extremely busy.
Bassist Nikki Monninger shows off her infectiously calming vocals in their second single off of “Physical Thrills,” “Alone on a Hill,” an eerily charming song with a consistent drum beat, and layered angelic vocals built upon the beautiful foundation of piano and synth arrangements. They just dropped the music video for the third single, “Hereafter (Way After).”
With their effects-heavy, electronics-backed, genre-bending songs, it’s difficult to lump Silversun Pickups into a specific category, however some describe the Los Angeles-based outfit as dream pop, or shoegaze. It is expected that the band will perform all of their hits from “Lazy Eye,” to their amazingly successful singles “Panic Switch,” “Circadian Rhythm,” and “It Doesn’t Matter.”
Supporting Silversun Pickups on this tour is the Australian, female-fronted act Eliza & the Delusionals, who are touring in support of their debut album “Then and Now.” They have a powerful indie-pop sound that will connect with Silversun Pickups fans. Rolling Stone AU/NZ called “Now And Then” “Luscious and vital” and “could be one of the year’s best albums.”
For this tour, Silversun Pickups have partnered with PLUS1, so that $1 from every ticket sold will be going to the PLUS1 x Noise For Now Reproductive Health Access Fund which supports access to reproductive rights and services for all. Come see two great bands and support a great cause while you’re at it.
