SLAVES TO HUMANITY

THE START

August 13, 2021 by Rachael Contreras

You may remember a previous ROR about the young men in Slaves to Humanity.  The polite and well-spoken teens and young 20-somethings have been around for about two years now, but perform as though they have as much experience as The Rolling Stones.  They sound like the love child of Seattle grunge and modern rock, and they will lure you into their songs with talented writing and amazing singing.
Through the downtime of the last year, they have been writing and recording and one of the creations from that time is a great new single that is out today!  The new single, “The Start,” even includes an awesome video!
The guys got together at the beginning of quarantine and had one of their best brainstorming sessions yet. They wrote the song in three hours, and then “The Start” was recorded about six months ago.   Front-man Aidan Amini told us, “A lot of it has to do with being isolated in your own head, feeling alone no matter where you are.  That’s what the music video focuses on, also.  It shows a more in-depth scenario of feeling isolated even though you aren’t.”
Amini went on to say, “The song feels newer.  ‘Battleground’ and ‘Behind My Back’ were traditional grunge but ‘The Start’ still has a grunge sound, but with a fresh twist.  This is the essence of our genre that we call, ‘Sunset Grunge.’”

The band has about 10 songs recorded and done, but Amini says, “They won’t see the light of day anytime soon because we are in talks with labels at the moment.  We just signed with a new agency – ICM – to book our shows, too.  We can’t wait to tour.”  When asked who they’d like to tour with, Amini responded quickly with, “Dirty Honey.  That would be an awesome tour.  I’d love to tour with a band that we don’t sound like, but compliment, like the Family Values tour.”
Slaves to Humanity producer and musician extraordinaire from Orgy, Adema, and Julian-K, Ryan Schuck says about the single, “When I first heard ‘The Start’ in its raw infant stage many months ago, I immediately had the feeling I had when I first moved to Orange County from the desert of Bakersfield – a feeling of young fresh energy and intensity. It was that energy that drove me to create new music and truly believe that anything was possible. That is what I’m looking for in a new single – an unshakable feeling of inspiration.”
“The Start” music video features an outdoor concert that was filmed with extras that answered a Slaves to Humanity Instagram post.  They ended up with more than what they were expecting and Amini said it worked out great!  “It was one long day of shooting and everyone did such a great job!”
STH has not only this new song and video, but also a new logo.  You know what that means?  New merch coming our way! Yippee!

Be sure to follow Slaves to Humanity on all their social medias so you don’t miss out on their next open call where you can make your music video debut!  We are excited to see what the future holds for these young men and where they put their platinum records one day!
In the meantime, catch Amini’s in-studio interview with yours truly on the TNN RADIO show on Sunday, August 15 from 1-3 p.m. PST at the KXFM studio in Laguna Beach.
