SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW

CALIFORNIA DREAMIN’

at Super Bowl LVI

February 11, 2022 by Traci Turner
Another aspect of Super Bowl weekend is how much we all look forward to the commercials. Normally we walk away from the TV when it is commercial time, but not for the big game. This year has a variety of new themed commercials, with some returning favorites. One thing is certain, as in years past, these commercials will make us smile!
There is one more thing that is as notable as the game itself. Every year, the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show is just as anticipated as the game – sometimes even more so!
There have already been plenty of tweets and memes about this year’s ‘90s hip-hop extravaganza. Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dog, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar will headline the performance which is sure to have some surprises.
The West Coast rap icons are expected to deliver their hits:
Dr. Dre feat. Snoop Dogg – “Still D.R.E.”
Dr. Dre feat. Snoop Dogg – “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang”
Snoop Dogg – “Gin & Juice”
Dr. Dre feat. Eminem – “Forgot About Dre”
Eminem – “Lose Yourself”
Eminem – “My Name Is”
Mary J. Blige – “Family Affair”
Kendrick Lamar – “Humble”
Kendrick Lamar feat. Mary J. Blige – “Now or Never”
The headliners are responsible for 22 number one Billboard albums and have won 44 Grammys between them. While Dr. Dre has collaborated with all of the artists, it will also be the first time all five have performed together.
The past 10 years of performers includes a who’s who of musical icons: Beyoncé, Coldplay, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Lenny Kravitz, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, and The Weeknd. Justin Timberlake and Maroon 5 have also performed. (What snark?)
These are the epic performances we will never forget. We’ll save Janet and Justin for another day, but Prince… that was a performance for the ages.
The game kick off is 3:30 p.m. PT/6:30 p.m. ET and the halftime show is anticipated to start around 5-5:30 p.m. PT/8-8:30 p.m. ET. Obviously that depends on the actual game play.
To get you prepped for the entertainment, the three-day Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest kicked off last might with Machine Gun Kelly and his “Forget Me Too” partner, Halsey. OC girl Gwen Stefani and her husband/The Voice coach, Blake Shelton, will handle Friday. Green Day will close things on Saturday with Miley Cyrus. It all happens at the newly crowned Crypto Center in Los Angeles.
