OC Music News is devastated to announce the passing of Foo Fighters’ drummer, Taylor Hawkins.
Hawkins was in Bogotá, Colombia, to perform with the Foo Fighters, two nights before the band’s headlining set at Lollapalooza Brazil on Sunday. He was found dead in his hotel room. No cause of death has been revealed as of yet.

The band posted the following message to their social media:
“The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins,” the band wrote on Facebook on Saturday AEDT.
“His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever.
“Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.”
Foo Fighters have been performing in South America this week and were slated to perform in Colombia this evening. Details are still minimal as to the events of tonight.
If you saw Foo Fighters, you could not help but see Hawkins’ incredible energy and smile as he wailed on the drums in a tank top with his long hair flying. Hawkins was 50 years old.
Front-man Dave Grohl has called Hawkins his “twin or spirit animal” and their bond was obvious to anyone who saw them together.

Hawkins was born in Texas in 1972 and moved to Laguna Beach, California in 1976. After touring with Alanis Morissette for two years, he joined Foo Fighters in 1997. The band has had an amazing past few years with their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, album releases – as Foo Fighters, Dee Gees, and Dream Widow – plus their horror movie, “Studio 666,” presidential inauguration, festival appearances and headlining tour. Hawkins also had various side projects of his own and was in demand as a drummer to support several other bands. He is constantly ranked as one of the best drummers in the world.
Foo Fighters were expected to perform at the Grammys on April 3rd, plus continue their worldwide tour. We expect everything to be canceled as the band navigates life without their beloved brother.
Hawkins is survived by his wife, Alison, and their three children: Oliver Shane, Annabelle and Everleigh.
OC Music News sends our deepest sympathy to the entire Foo Fighters family.
