After much publicity, the all new Flash movie has finally arrived! The superhero film based on the DC character is of course part of the DC Extended Universe. For this one, director Andy Muschietti was behind the camera are cinematographer Henry Braham (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Suicide Squad).
In addition to the insane amount of press these flicks get anyway, lead actor Ezra Miller has quite a bit of controversy, but let’s look at the movie!
This movie kicks off with a fun, but comical take. Ezra Miller does a solid job for the third outing as The Flash.
The story was basically taken from the comic book storyline “Flashpoint,” which if you’re a nerd like me, you know the concept. But if you don’t, do not fear as it develops in front of you.
Barry Allen helps Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince stop a bank robbery and after visiting his childhood home and becoming emotional, he accidentally travels back in time.
While Wayne warns Allen time travel can change the future, Allen goes back to prevent his mother’s death. And then… life is changed in the future of course! With multiple timelines, things get crazy and you’ll have to watch and see if he can put things back.
The incredible cast includes Ezra Miller (Barry Allen / The Flash), Michael Keaton (Bruce Wayne / Batman), Sasha Calle (Kara Zor-El / Supergirl), Kiersey Clemons (Iris West).
Michael Shannon plays the role he was made for (General Zod), there’s Ron Livingston (Henry Allen), Maribel Verdú (Nora Allen), and a crazy number of huge cameos which I won’t spoil.
Here’s some even nerdier stuff: The film was produced by Barbara Muschietti (her work includes IT, Mama) and Michael Disco (Check out Rampage and San Andreas). Yes, there’s more… screenplay is by Christina Hodson (from Birds of Prey and Bumblebee). Screen story by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (from Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Spider-Man: Homecoming). Rounding it out, Joby Harold (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Army of the Dead). Of course, the film is based on characters from DC.
Last but not least, Executive Producers are Toby Emmerich, Walter Hamada, Galen Vaisman, and Marianne Jenkins.
This movie made my nerd heart happy and I had some happy and sad tears, but it is a fantastic and solid film.
I truly enjoyed it! Go check out “The Flash” the way it’s supposed to be seen – in the theaters!
