G’day, mates! Meet The Chats – the rowdy and rebellious pub-punk crew hailing from the bright and shiny shores of Australia’s Sunshine Coast.
With a Toy Dolls-esque overture, this epic trio consists of the wild Eamon Sandwith on bass and vocals, the rhythmic genius Matt Boggis behind the drum kit, and Josh Hardy shreds on guitar.
Back in 2016, they unleashed their first-ever, and self-titled, EP, and boy did it create a stir! But it was their sophomore EP, “Get This in Ya!!,” that blasted them into viral stardom with the outrageously popular track, “Smoko.”
Talk about setting the internet on fire – it quickly racked up over a million views and counting!
But these mullet-sporting punks weren’t stopping there. In 2020, they dropped their full-length debut album, “High Risk Behaviour,” and the world couldn’t get enough. Critics were swooning, fans were thrashing, and the energy was off the charts!
They were even one of the lucky artists who ended up on the massive 2021 Metallica “Blacklist” album with their cover of “Holier Than Thou.”
Parents may have even gotten a taste of The Chats with their cover of The Wiggles’ “Can You Point Your Fingers (And Do the Twist?).” The children’s television program from Australia is a global sensation, and their catchy tunes earned the tribute album, “ReWiggled.” Think Metallica for the toddler set.
In August of 2022, their next album, “Get Fucked,” hit the scene. Yeah, they really brought the heat with that one! They dropped two incredible singles, “Struck by Lightning” and “6L GTR.”
Like their Aussie counterparts Amyl and the Sniffers who found enormous radio success with ‘Security,” look out for The Chats on the airwaves with “6L GTR.”
So, if you’re looking for some high-voltage punk fun, join the party with The Chats – they’ll rock your mullets off! They are touring their home country now, but will hit our shores in September, kicking things off in with two Southern California shows: September 28th in San Diego at The Observatory North Park, and September 29th in Pomona at The Fox Theater.
They will spend the rest of the fall touring North America, wrapping up October 31st in Los Angeles for Halloween at the Novo. If you feel so inclined, they’ll be back in the land down under touring with the Foo Fighters later this year, you can check them out there too.
